Daily Evening Prayers

This mantra (sloka/strotram) is to be recited while lighting lamp in the evening.

|| Subham Karotu Kalyanam Arogyam Dhana Sampadam
    Satru Bruddhi Vinasaya Sandhya Dipam Namostute ||

Let the lamplight bring auspiciousness, prosperity, good health and abundance of wealth. Salutation to you for the destruction of enemies. I bow to the lamplight in the evening again and again.

|| Aum Deepamjyoti Param Brahma Deepamjyoti-Janardanah
    Deepajyoti Harate Paapam Sandhya Deepam Namostute ||

The light of the lamp stands for Brahman, as well as the un-manifested truth and for the Lord Vishnu (in his manifested form). Let the light of the lamp remove my sins and sufferings (results of omission and commissions). I bow to the lamplight, in the evening, again and again.
